Ecumenical Eve of the Cross
Ecumenical Eve of the Cross in Espoo and Kauniainen on Saturday 26.8.2023! The Ecumenical Crusade is an event open to all, during which it is possible to get to know and learn more about the work of the Commission. The Crusade is a walk in nature, with stops along the way at a few places where there will be short devotions in the Christian tradition. The crusade is also open to partial participation in both the hike and the programme.
PROGRAM
10 am Kauniainen Methodist Church (Yhtiöntie 33), prayer and coffee service, Pastor Marjan Roayaii (4,5 km walk) 12 noon Ingas Priesthood (Ingaksentie 9), momentary service and soup lunch, lunch 5 euros, Pastor Antti Kruus. (3,8 km walk) 14:00 Oittaa, Orthodox water blessing. (4,4, km walk) 16:00 Ecumenical Centre (Myllyjärventie 9). Catholic mass in the church. Brother Marie-Augustin OP. Barbecue outside. Weather appropriate gear, water bottle, walking shoes and enough cash to pay for lunch. The hike is about 13 km long. Welcome to join us on a hike together!
Organised by the Ecumenical Commission of Espoo and Kauniainen, Helsinki Orthodox Church, Kauniainen Methodist Church, Studium Catholicum and the Lutheran parishes of Espoo and Kauniainen. The Espoo and Kauniainen Ecumenical Commission brings together the parishes and Christian communities of Espoo and Kauniainen that wish to work together and cooperate with each other. Its mission is to strengthen the fellowship of the local people involved in the activities of the parishes and Christian communities of Espoo and Kauniainen. This is done by visiting different churches and communities, learning about their activities and organising events open to all a few times a year. The churches and communities appoint representatives to the committee, which meets at least four times a year.
