The traditions of Espoo Day go back decades, as Espoo has been celebrated in various ways from village festivities to themed event series. The first Espoo Day was officially celebrated in 1992, the year when the City of Espoo turned 20. The date selected was 27 August, the date on which the foundation agreement of ‘Espoo Manor’ was signed in 1556. These days, the last Saturday of August is dedicated to Espoo’s signature day and the related festivities.
